Phishing
Phishing: spot the trick before you tap
A phishing message is a fake message designed to trick you into sharing information, money, or access to an account. The message is the bait. A link or a request is the hook.
- 1
Pause and think.
Do not tap, reply or pay yet. Urgency is the scammer's main tool.
- 2
Check the sender.
Confirm the email address or phone number. A bank or telco name in the display field proves nothing.
- 3
Avoid suspicious links.
Open the official app or type the website address yourself instead.
- 4
Protect passwords and codes.
Never share a sign-in code, PIN or one-time password with anyone, for any reason.
- 5
Report it.
Tell a trusted person, your bank or telco, or your workplace administrator.
Pause. Verify. Protect. Report.
